World Food Day

The City of Vittoriosa, was the chosen location for the 2007 activities to mark World Food Day, the theme of which was "The Right for Food".

On Sunday 28th October 2007 at 8:30am, an exhibition of fruit, vegetables and fish was displayed in the town's square. Activities included a Pontifical Mass at the Vittoriosa Collegiate Church, celebrated by Gozo bishop Mgr. Mario Grech.

Activities also included a horse parade as well as a performance by the AFM band.

Vittoriosa was chosen to host the event, as in those cities which are not rural, the population has forgotten what agriculture and animals are.

The activity was organised by the Ministry of Environment and Rural Affairs in collaboration with the Birgu Local Council.
