Tindif tas-Swar tal-Birgu / Cleaning of the Fortifications of Birgu

Nhar is-Sibt 6 ta’ Marzu, ngħata bidu għat-tindif tas-Swar li jdawwru l-Belt tal-Birgu min-naħa tal-Posta ta’ Kastilja san-naħa ta’ fuq wara tal-Forti Sant’Anġlu.
Dan it-tindif qiegħed isir b’konnessjoni maż-żjara tal-Papa Benedittu XVI fil-Gżejjer Maltin, fejn il-Ħadd 18 t’April, ser jgħaddi mill-Birgu fi triqtu lejn il-Kalkara, fejn minn hemm bil-katamaran jitlaq għal Valletta Waterfront.
It-tindif ta’ dawn is-swar qiegħed isir mil-Grupp S.P.I.D.E.R minn fost volontiera msieħba fl-istess grupp u mis-suldati tal-Forzi Armati ta’ Malta. Bis-saħħa ta’ dan it-tindif, din il-parti tas-swar ser tingħata dehra ferm isbaħ milli kienet f’dawn l-aħħar snin u ser joħloq sbuħija u potenzjal storiku li għandhom dawn is-swar li jdawwru l-istess Belt Marittima u storika tal-Belt Vittoriosa.

On Saturday 6th March, the cleaning of the bastions surrounding the City of Birgu, from part of Post of Castille till the top part of Fort St Angelo, began.
This is being done in connection with the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the Maltese Islands, where on Sunday 18th April, he will be passing through Birgu, on his way to Kalkara, where he then will be leaving with a catamaran to go to the Valletta Waterfront.
The cleaning of the fortifications is being done by volunteers of the Group S.P.I.D.E.R and by the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Malta. Thanks to the work being done, this part of fortifications will be given a much better look then it had in these past years, creating a historical potential that these bastions encircling the Maritime City of Birgu have.
