Suq tal-Bdiewa fil-Birgu

Suq tal-Bdiewa fil-Birgu

Is-Segretarjat Parlamentari għall-Biedja, Sajd u Drittijiet tal-Annimali wasal fi ftehim mal-Kunsill Lokali tal-Birgu biex jinfetaħ Suq tal-Bdiewa (Farmers’ Market) ieħor bħalma hemm diġà f’Ta’ Qali.
Fi stqarrija ntqal li hija x-xewqa tal-Kunsill Lokali tal-Birgu u tas-Segretarjat resposabbli għall-Biedja illi dan is-suq jibda jittella’ kull nhar ta’ Sibt (eskluż festi pubbliċi) mis-sebgħa tà filgħodu (7am) sa nofsinhar (12pm) f’parti minn Triq it-Torri ta’ San Ġwann.

Parti minin Triq it-Torri ta' San Gwann, fejn ser jibda isir is-suq tal-bdiewa

Kull min huwa interessat li japplika jrid ikun bidwi full time jew part time. Biex wieħed ikun eliġibbli, il-bidwi għandu jbiegħ biss il-prodotti mkabbrin lokalment u għandu jiġbor l-applikazzjoni mill-uffiċċju tal-Farmers’ Market il-Pitkalija.
Dawk il-bdiewa li għandhom permess biex joperaw posta mis-Suq tal-Bdiewa ta’ Ta’ Qali, m’humiex eliġibbli li japplikaw.
Il-Kunsill Lokali tal-Birgu jixtieq juri sodisfazzjon, li t-talba tiegħu li saret madwar sentejn ilu, fi ftit taż-żmien ser isir realta’. Ta’dan, il-Kunsill tal-Birgu jixtieq jirringrazzja tal-għajnuna li ngħatat f`dawn l-aħħar jiem mis-Segretarju Parlamentari għall-Biedja, Sajd u Drittijiet tal-Annimali, l-Onorevoli Roderick Galdes, li mill-bidu nett malli ġie infurmat bil-ħsieb u bi talba mill-Kunsill Lokali tal-Birgu, wera l-interess u fehem l-iskopijiet ewlenin ta’ dan is-suq tal-bdiewa fil-lokalita tal-Birgu. Dan ser ikun ta’ benefiċċju għar-residenti ta’ nofsinhar ta’ Malta.

Farmers’ Market in Birgu

The Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, has come to an agreement with the Birgu Local Council in the proposal for a Farmers’ Market in Birgu as the one in Ta’ Qali.
In a statement, both the Birgu Local Council and the Parliamentary Secretary responsible for Agriculture propose that the market will put up its stalls every Saturday (excluding public holidays) from 7am till 12pm, occupying part of St. John’s Tower Street.

Any qualified full time or part time farmer may apply to open stall. Farmers are to sell only locally produced crops and apply at the Farmers’ Market office in Pitkalija.
Those farmers however, who already have permits to sell their goods at Ta’ Qali, are not qualified to apply.
The Birgu Local Council is gratified that although the proposal was first brought to the table two years ago, it has now finally been achieved. With this regard, the Council acknowledges the support provided by the Honorable Roderick Galdes, the Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, who took immediate action; showing great interest and understanding in the main purposes for the Farmers’ Market in Birgu. It is without a doubt that the Farmers’ Market will be beneficiary to all civilians residing in the South of Malta.
