Skopri l-Universita' fit-Tlett Ibliet

The University of Malta is currently in the process of setting up a resource centre in Cottonera in order to reach out to people, particularly youths, who come from the area. As part of this initiative the University of Malta organised Skopri l-Università Fit-tlett Ibliet, on the 29, 31 October and 2 November.
The activity had the full support of the Mayors of the Three Cities.
On 2 November the event was hosted by the City of Birgu with a programme of activities held in and around a tent placed in the square. The event showcased the links between Birgu and the University both in the past and in the present, as well as promoting academic and social aspects of campus life. The audience included children from the area who took part in traditional games and sports and families.
The local youth groups were invited to take part in a debate held in the evening. The topic chosen by the youths themselves for the debate was the rights of youths. This was led by Prof Peter Majo and Dr Paul Bezzina. Mr Alan Cassar, who is the responsible for youths within the Birga Local Council and other Councillors attended and contributed to the debate.
