Din ic-cerimonja qasira, imma li kellha sinnifikat kbir saret fil-bitha ta’ l-istess Skola, mis-Sindku tal-Birgu, s-Sur John Boxall meghjun mis-Sur Bertie Muscat, Vice Chairman tal-Kunsill Malti ghall-Isport fil-prezenza tal-Kap ta’ l-Iskola s-Sinjorina Michelle Spiteri, l-Assistant Kap is-Sinjorina Maria Meli u l-ghalliema ta’ l-istess Skola.

Presentation of Certificates
On Wednesday 19th May, 2010, the presentation ceremony of certificates to the children who attend the "After School Programme" which was held at the Santu Rokku Primary School in Birgu, and organised and funded by the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sports, the Malta Sports Council and the Birgu Local Council.
This small ceremony, however with great significance, took place in the courtyard of the same school, in the presence of the Mayor of Birgu, Mr. John Boxall, assisted by Mr. Bertie Muscat, Vice Chairman of the Malta Sports Council, the Head of School, Ms. Michelle Spiter, Assistant Head Ms. Maria Meli and the teachers of the same school.
In this speech, the Mayor of Birgu, before he started distributing the certificates to the school children, stated that the Council is very pleased with the attendance and the behaviour shown by the children during their participation in this programme. The Mayor encouraged the children to take part in the continuation of the "After School Programme" being organised next year and encouraged other students to join as well. The Mayor, Mr. John Boxall, announced for the very first time, that in the coming weeks, with the direct help of the Malta Basketball Association, Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, and a great benefactor who constantly help the Birgu Local Council, a Basketball pitch will be installed to compliment the synthetic turf ground, installed about nine months ago where children can play, Football, netball and volleyball.
At the end of his speech, the Mayor, on behalf of all the children, showed gratituted to these two persons, who are giving their assistance for the completion of this project, and also thanked the Head of School, Assistant Head and all the teachers, for their great dedication in running the school and their great affection towards the children.
In a short speech done by Mr. Bertie Muscat, the Vice Chairman of the Malta Council for Sport and who is also very well known in the Maltese Sports field, praised the initiative taken continuously by the Birgu Local Council, to further increase the level of Education and Sports Education in his locality and the initiative taken in investing in full in children from a very early age. This investment is the only guarantee for the future of children, not of this locality alone, but of all the Maltese Islands. Mr. Muscat on behalf of the Malta Sports Council, thanked all those who in one way or another are helping the Birgu Local Council to reached its objectives and hoped that the Council, will be more successful in the management of this Historical City. This ceremony came to an end, after the certificates where distributed to all those children who attended the programme.
