PORTS AS NEW MAGNETS FOR URBAN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The International Scientific Committee on Economics of Conservation, one of the international scientific committee of the International Council of Monuments and Sites [ICOMOS], will be holding their annual scientific forum and annual meeting in Birgu this May 24th and 25th. This meeting is being organised with the collaboration of the Ministry for Tourism, Culture and the Environment and the Birgu Local Council.
 
International Scientific Committees of ICOMOS bring together the best experts in the field. This particular committee is dealing with a very important theme at the moment, that is the economics of heritage conservation.
 
The theme of the meeting is: PORTS AS NEW MAGNETS FOR URBAN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
 
It will be inaugurated by HE Dr Ray Bondin, Malta’s Ambassador to UNESCO at 0930 on the 24th May. The Mayor of Birgu, Mr John Boxall, will also make a welcome address.
