Kompetizzjoni ta’ Stejjer Qosra dwar il-Belt Vittoriosa

Is-Soċjeta’ Storiko Kulturali tal-Belt Vittoriosa dejjem ippruvat tenfasizza l-importanza tal-Birgu fl-istorja ta’ Malta. Matul iż-żminijiet, il-Birgu kien is-sede tal-potenzi li ħakmu fuq Malta, billi kien il-belt marittima ta’ Malta. Pero’ l-akbar avveniment għall-Birgu żgur li kienet ir-rebħa tal-Assedju l-Kbir tal-1565, rebħa li kienet kruċjali għall-futur ta’ Malta. Kien minn dakinhar li l-Birgu ssejjaħ Vittoriosa.

 

Biex tkompli tkattar l-interess dwar din il-Belt fost iż-żgħażagħ u studenti ta’ bejn is-16 u t-18-il sena, is-Soċjeta’ qed tniedi kompetizzjoni ta’ stejjer qosra. Min jipparteċipa huwa mitlub jikteb storja qasira li jkollha l-Birgu bħala suġġett jew ambjent, li tiżvolġi fi sfond kontemporanju jew storiku, u li tinvolvi karattri mistħajla jew storiċi.

 

Il-kundizzjonijiet biex wieħed jieħu sehem huma:

  1. Tul tal-kitba 1,000 – 1,500 kelma
  2. L-istorja tista’ tinkiteb bil-Malti jew bl-Ingliż
  3. Tista’ tibgħat iktar minn kitba wahda
  4. Niżżel ismek u kunjomok, indirizz, numru tat-telefon, isem tal-iskola jew kulleġġ
  5. Data tal-għeluq: 30 ta’ April, 2011
  6. Ibgħat il-kitba lis-Segretarju, Soċjeta’ Storiko Kulturali, Dar it-Tmienja ta’ Settembru, Pjazza Vittoriosa, Vittoriosa. 

Din il-kompetizzjoni hi sponsorjata minn Agenda Bookshop li qed joffru premju ta’ kotba kemm għall-kitba rebbieħa bil-Malti u kemm għall-kitba rebbieħa bl-Ingliż. Jingħataw ċertifikati ta’ parteċipazzjoni lil kull min jieħu sehem. 

 

Short story on the historic City of Birgu Competition

 

The Historical & Cultural Society of the City of Birgu, always worked on emphasizing the importance of Birgu in Malta’s history.

 

Throughout the years, Birgu was the seat of powers that ruled over Malta, since it was the Maritime City of Malta. But, the biggest event for Birgu was definitely the victory of the Great Siege of 1565, a victory which was crucial for the future of Malta. From that day onwards, Birgu was entitled Vittoriosa.

 

To further enhance the interest towards this City amongst young people and students aged between 16 and 18 years, the Historical and Cultural Society – Vittoriosa, are launching a competition of short stories. Participants are asked to write a short story having Birgu or Birgu’s environment as its main subject, which takes place in contemporary or historical era and involving imaginary or historical characters.

 

Conditions to participate:

 

  1. Write 1000-1500 words
  2. Short story can be written in English or Maltese.
  3. One can submit more than one entry.
  4. Include name, surname, age (between 16-18), address, telephone number, school/college attended.
  5. Closing date: 30th April, 2011
  6. Send to: The Secretary, Historical & Cultural Society, Dar it-Tmienja ta’ Settembru, Pjazza Vittoriosa, Vittoriosa. 

This competition is being sponsored by Agenda Bookshop, who are offering book prizes to both Maltese and English winning entries. Participation certificates will be awarded to all participants.
