Iffirmat il-Ġemellaġġ bejn il-Belt tal-Birgu u l-villaġġ ta’ Belvi f’Sardinja, l-Italja
 
 
Nhar il-Ġimgha 14 ta’ Diċembru, 2012, ġie ffirmat il-ġemellaġġ bejn il-Belt Kapitali Marittima tal-Birgu u l-villaġġ ta’ Belvi waqt ċerimonja li għaliha attendew bosta persuni.
 
Din iċ-ċerimonja kienet parti wkoll minn ġimgħa ta’ attivitajiet imtella’ taħt il-proġett CO-TO-GEN iffinanzjat mill-Unjoni Ewropea taħt il-programm Europe for Citizens, fejn attendew grupp ta’ 26 Vittorjosan u ammont kbir ta’ ċittadini ta’ Belvi.
 
Dan l-avveniment ingħata bidu b’indirizz mis-Sur Rodolfo Cancedda, Kap tal-AICCRE, il-Federazzjoni tal-Ġemellaġġi Reġjonali ta’ Sardinja, kif ukoll membru tal-Ġemellaġġi Nazzjonali.
 
Wara li ntwerew filmati dwar iż-żewġ lokalitajiet, indaqq l-innu tal-Ewropa mill-Intercomunal School of Music of Central Sardinia. Dan ġie segwit minn kunċert mużikali fejn diversi tfal mill-istess skola tal-mużika wrew it-talenti tagħhom billi daqqew diversi siltiet fuq il-pjanu.
 
Hekk kif ġie fi tmiemu dan il-kunċert, is-Sindku ta’ Belvi, s-Sur Rinaldo Arangino u s-Sindku tal-Birgu, s-Sur John Boxall, qraw ir-rit tal-ġemellaġġ bit-Taljan u s-Sard, u bl-Ingliż u bil-Malti rispettivament. Wara li ġie ffirmat uffiċjalment dan il-ġemellaġġ, iż-żewġ Sindki ndirizzaw lil dawk kollha prezenti u awguraw ħidma fejjieda għall-benefiċċju taż-żewġ lokalitajiet.
 
Fl-aħħar ta’ din iċ-ċerimonja ż-żewġ Sindki skambjaw rigali bħala tifkira ta’ dan l-avveniment.
 
 
Fl-għeluq ta’ din iċ-ċerimonja, ittella’ kunċert korali minn żewġ korijiet tal-lokal, dak mill-kor maskili “Sos Ordinagos” u mill-kor femminili “Stella Splendes”, kif ukoll mill-kor maskili tal-lokalita ta’ Bosa, il-kor "Cuncordu a Traggiu".
 
Wara d-delegazzjoni kollha Vittorjosana akkumpanjati mis-Sindku tagħhom s-Sur John Boxall u l-Viċi Sindku, s-Sur Trevor Mizzi ġew mistiedna għall-pranzu tal-okkażjoni. Magħhom ingħaqdu wkoll il-familji kollha ta’ dan il-villaġġ li hadu sehem f’dan il-proġett, flimkien mas-Sindku tagħhom u l-mara tiegħu, s-Sinjura Francesca Poddie, il-Viċi Sindku, Sebastiano Casula u martu, s-Sinjura Valentina Carboni, flimkien mal-istaff tal-Kunsill tal-Lokali.
 
 
Signed the twinning agreement between the City of Birgu and the village of Belvi, Sardinia, Italy
 
On Friday 14th December, 2012, the City of Birgu, the Maritime Capital of Malta, signed a twinning agreement with the village of Belvi, Sardinia, during a ceremony to which a considerable amount of people attended to.
This ceremony was also part of a week of events which took place under the CO-TO-GEN project funded by the European Union, under the Europe for Citizens programme, where 26 residents of the City of Birgu, together with a good number from the citizens of Belvi, participated in this project.
Mr. Rodolfo Cancedda, Head of AICCRE, the Federation of Regional Twinnings of Sardinia, as well as a member of the National Twinning Committee addressed the event.
During the event, videos showcasing the two localities were shown, where after the European National Anthem was played by the Intercomunal School of Central Sardinia. This was followed by a musical concert where several children from the same school of music showed their talents by playing different musical passages on the piano.
Once the concert ended, the Mayor of Belvi, Mr. Rinaldo Arangino, and the Mayor of Birgu, Mr. John Boxall, read the rite of the twinning agreement in Italian and Sardinian, and in English and Maltese respectively. After officially signing the agreement, the two mayors addressed all those present and hoped to work together for the benefit of both localities. At the end of the ceremony, the two mayors exchanged gifts as a commemoration of this event.
 In conclusion of this event, a choral concert was held where two of the local choirs, that of “Sos Ordinagos”, a male choir, and “Stella Splendes”, a female choir, as well as the “Coincordu a Traggiu”, a male choir from the village of Bosa, performed for all those present.
 After, the delegation from Vittoriosa, accompanied by the Mayor Mr. John Boxall, and Deputy Mayor Mr. Trevor Mizzi, were invited to a commemorative dinner. The group was also accompanied by the families of the villagers who took part in this project, together with their Mayor and his wife Mrs. Francesca Poddie, Vice Mayor Sebastiano Casula and his wife Mrs. Valentina Carboni, together with the staff of the Belvi Local Council.
