Żjara lis-Sindku tal-Birgu mill-Kunsill ta’ l-Istudenti ta’ l-Iskola Primarja Santu Rokku, Birgu fi Ħdan il-Kulleġġ Santa Margerita

Nhar l-Erbgħa 2 ta’ Marzu, 2011, il-Kunsill ta’ l-istudenti ta’ l-iskola Primarja Santu Rokku tal-Birgu fi ħdan il-Kulleġġ Santa Margerita ltaqgħu mas-Sindku tal-Birgu, s-Sur John Boxall fl-uffiċini l-ġodda tal-Kunsill Lokali tal-Birgu, fil-Berġa ta’ Franza.

Din kienet l-ewwel laqgħa ta’ din ix-xorta kemm ilhom imwaqqfa il-Kunsill Lokali tal-Birgu kif ukoll il-Kunsill ta’ l-istudenti ta’ din l-iskola.

Il-membri tal-Kunsill, jammontaw għal disgħa, immexxija mil-President tagħhom, it-tfajjel Alexei Borg u akkumpanjati mill-Assistent Kap tal-iskola, s-Sur Mario Spiteri u Ludwig Galea , għalliem tal-PSD.  Fl-intrata ta’ din il-binja storika sabu lis-Sindku jilqagħhom fejn tahom merħba u wara ġew mistiedna sabiex jidħlu f’waħda mil-kmamar fejn preżentament qiegħed jiltaqa’ l-Kunsill u jsiru laqgħat oħra ma’ personalitajiet distinti.
Hemmhekk is-Sindku reġa’ ta’ merħba l-itfal u fil-qosor spjega kif isiru l-laqgħat tal-Kunsill u d-deċiżjonijiet importanti li jittieħdu waqt dawn il-laqgħat. Wara kien imiss lill-President tal-Kumitat Alexei Borg jintroduċi l-itfal sħabu u wara ressaq xi proposti lill-Kunsill Lokali tal-Birgu biex isiru fl-iskola Primarja Santu Rokku u ta spazju lil sħabu jgħaddu wkoll is-suġġerimenti tagħhom fejn l-aktar interessanti jkunu dawk, biex fl-iskola tiġi nstallata is-sistema tad-dawl, jinżergħu aktar pjanti u fjuri madwar u ġo l-iskola u biex fiż-żona tal-iskola jiġu nstallati Bring in Sites tas-separazzjoni ta’ l-iskart.

Is-Sindku wera s-sodisfazzjon tiegħu għall-mod ta’ kif il-membri ta’ dan il-kumitat ippreżentaw is-sottomisjonijiet tagħhom minkejja l-eta’ tenera tagħhom. Is-Sindku min-naħa tal-Kunsill ressaq proposta sabiex f’din l-iskola tibda ssir “Sports Day” organizzata direttament minn dan il-Kumitat u bil-kollaborazzjoni tal-Kunsill Lokali tal-Birgu min-naħa tagħhom dawn l-istudenti laqgħu din il-proposta u assiguraw lis-Sindku li din l-attivita, wara li jintalab permess lil Kap ta’ l-iskola, tibda ssir kull sena.
Wara din il-laqgħa, is-Sindku stieden lil dawn l-istudenti sabiex miegħu u ma’ l-Assistent Kap ta’ l-iskola jduru mal-Berġa ta’ Franza fejn kellhom l-opportunita jaraw ix-xogħlijiet ta’ restawr u jitkellmu mal-ħaddiema waqt li dawn kienu qed jaħdmu dan ix-xogħol.

Ta’ min jgħid li din l-okkażjoni kienet ta’ esperjenza kbira għal dawn it-tfal li għada pitgħada xi ħadd jew xi wħud minnhom jista’ jkun jew ikunu il-mexxeja ta’ din il-Belt Storika u Marittima.

Is-Sindku jdawwar lit-tfal mal-kmamar tal-Berġa ta’ Franza fejn qed isiru ix-xogħlijiet ta’ restawr.

Is-Sindku jieħu l-itfal u lill-Assistent Kap ta’ l-iskola fil-loġġa prinċipali ta’ din il-Binja Storika fejn dawn setgħu jaraw is-sbuħija tad-daħla tal-Port il-Kbir.

Is-Sindku jispjega lit-tfal ix-xogħol ta’ restawr li qiegħed isir mill-ħaddiema assenjati mill-E.T.C fuq il-bibien tas-Sala Prinċipali.

The Students’ Council of the St. Margaret’s College, Vittoriosa Primary, meet the Mayor of Birgu

On Wednesday 2^nd March, 2011, the Student’s Council of the St. Margaret’s College, Vittoriosa Primary, met the Mayor of Birgu, Mr. John Boxall at the new offices of the Local Council in the Auberge de France.

This was the first meeting of this kind, which the Birgu Local Council had with the students of this school, since it was established.

In total, the members of this Council are nine, and are led by their President, the young Alexei Borg, and accompanied by Mr. Mario Spiteri, Assistant Head and Mr. Ludwig Galea, their PSD teacher.

The Mayor greeted them at the entrance of the Auberge, and invited them to the board room, were presently the Council’s meetings are being held as well as meetings with highly distinctive people.

The Mayor again welcomed the children and informed them the Council meetings procedures as well how important decisions are taken during Council meetings. The Students’ Council President, the young Alexei Borg, introduced the children in the council and forwarded some proposals to the Birgu Local Council to be done at the St. Rocco Primary School. He then gave the floor to the other members of the Council to give their suggestions which included the proposal to install a photovoltaic system, to plant flowers and plants around the school as well as to install Bring In Sites for waste separation.

The Mayor expressed his satisfaction for the way the members of this Council have presented their submissions despite their early age.  The Mayor on behalf of the Birgu Local Council suggested that this Students Council should organise a “Sports Day” in collaboration with the Birgu Local Council on their part these students welcomed this proposal and assured the Mayor that this activity,  after seeking permission from the Head of School, will be organised ever year.

Following this meeting, the Mayor invited the students together with the Assistant Head of school to go around the Auberge of France where they had the opportunity to see the current restoration works and talk with the workers while they were working.

One should also add that this occasion was a great experience for these children  who in a few years time someone or some of them may be or will be leaders of this Maritime and Historic City.
